Course Description
This three-hour self-paced course is designed to help students develop an understanding of the key concepts of access methods for assistive technology devices. The course will further focus on the use of switches as an access method, switch assessment, and switch implementation.
The Access Methods course consists of 3 modules which cover the following topics:
- Introduction to Access Methods
- Introduction to Switch Access
- Implementing Switch Use Into Everyday Activities
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course students will:
- Understand the components of access methods for assistive technology selection
- Develop the ability to assess switch/scanning skills
- Explore the implementation of switches into everyday activities
Continuing Education Information:
This course can be taken for CEU credit if you choose. To receive CEU credit, there is a two step process you need to follow:
1. Complete the Course
Once you purchase this course, you will have access to the course content for one year (365 days) from the date of purchase. During those 365 days, you will be able to participate in and complete the course for CEU credit. After 365 days, your course access will expire and you will not be able to complete the course for CEU credit.
2. Apply for CEU Credit
Upon completion of the course, you will have access to a downloadable course outline, and receive a certificate of course completion via e-mail. You may use these documents when applying for CEU credit. You may choose to obtain CEUs at your discretion. Completion of the course does not guarantee CEU credit.
